What Do I See?

  1.           What do I see when I look at the sea?

A body of water with species unknown to me.
Some purple, some red some even black,
do they care that they are wet, slimy or or a sharks next attack.
Living in their realm they understand well:
it doesn’t matter what you are even if you live within a shell.

What do I see when I look up at the sky?

The sun, moon and stars and the birds flying by.
The vast blue skies when the clouds play inside for the day
or the deep darkness of night sprinkled with shimming little lights.
A jet, a hot air balloon, or a kite — compared to the birds who first took flight.
Invading the heavenly skies with the dreams of man
all made possible because man said, yes we can.

What do I see when I look at the world?

Trees covered in coats of green, fields wide spread with multiple colors entwined.
Red, yellow, white, black, and gold show off the way things should be no matter how old.
I know what I am and I know what I believe,
but others who walk, talk and function like me will not let me be.
A doctor, lawyer or one who cleans the streets,
who gives them the right to claim control over me.
I thought I counted for something and what my future would be.
Here I stand in front of the mirror, and what do I see?
Everything I was created to be,
so if the sea the skies and the trees understand their purpose
then why am I made the victim in this man made circus.
