Those Boys

by Merkin

Those boys think I don’t see them
Standing there
Moving close
Staring into each other’s eyes.

Those boys don’t know I exist
As they exist
For each other
Touching, sharing, sighing.

Those boys think no one can know
How being close
Can be agony
When the world insists upon lies.

Those boys can’t know I’m another
Who once discovered
A soul to share
My life, our love, his dying.
