A spotlight shines;
the music dims;
prepare.
A speech long
practiced -
mirrors checked,
make up done
hair in place.
Deliever the words -
passionate;
but never
true.
Pretend the role;
play the part,
dance inside
the script.
Go home and
look!
the show is done.
Be the girl behind
The Actress.
But fake is real -
there is no you.
Only a character
to read her lines.
The mirror breaks;
the lights go out;
no sound escapes
your lips.
This is life
blank and dark
to fill
and live.
Start...
By setting the
stage.
