CIRCLES
a poem by codey
- there comes a new warmth, and life reappears
- and gone from memory are yesterdays tears
- no more grey skies to darken the mood
- nature waves her arm and all is renewed
-
- the sun standing tall, displays its guilt
- as water starved plants begin to wilt
- in the mid-day heat, the animals swelter
- and retreat to the shade but find little shelter
-
- the days shorten as summer grows old
- the northwind is bringing the snow and the cold
- the leaves on the trees all wither and brown
- dislodged by the wind they carpet the ground
-
- dark clouds streak the sky, like a large mourning band
- and silence lays heavy across the land
- animals cower, hearts filled with dread
- the ground is frozen, all appears dead
-
- then comes a new warmth, and life reappears
- and gone from memory are yesterdays tears
- no more grey skies to darken the mood
- nature waves her arm and all is renewed
